Duties

• Developing and implementing plans, policies, and practices that control, protect and optimise the value of data assets.
• Devising and implementing master data management processes for specific subsets of data.
• Assessing the integrity of data from multiple sources.
• Providing advice on the transformation of data from one format/medium to another.
• Maintaining and implementing information handling procedures.
• Enabling the availability, integrity and searchability of information through the application of formal data and metadata structures and protection measures.
• Designing, coding, verifying, testing, documenting, amending and refactoring moderately complex programs/scripts.
• Applying agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
• Monitoring and reporting on progress.
• Identifying issues related to software development activities.
• Proposing practical solutions to resolve issues.
• Collaborating in reviews of work with others as appropriate.
• Investigating enterprise data requirements where there is some complexity and ambiguity.
• Planning own data modelling and design activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives.
• Providing advice and guidance to others using the data structures and associated components.
• Designing, implementing and maintaining complex data engineering solutions to acquire and prepare data.
• Creating and maintaining data pipelines to connect data within and between data stores, applications and organisations.
• Investigating the described problem and dataset to assess the usefulness of data science and analytics solutions.
• Applying a range of data science techniques and using specialised programming languages.
• Understanding and applying rules and guidelines specific to the industry, and anticipating risks and other implications of modelling.
• Selecting, acquiring and integrating data for analysis.
• Developing data hypotheses and methods and evaluating analytics models.
• Advising on the effectiveness of specific techniques based on project findings and comprehensive research.
• Contributing to the development, evaluation, monitoring and deployment of data science solutions.
• Supporting business intelligence needs of specific management or governance processes or operational areas.
• Investigating the need for business intelligence reporting and analysis where there is some complexity and ambiguity.
• Selecting and applying non-standard business intelligence tools and techniques to provide insights and aid decision-making.
• Identifying opportunities to digitise and streamline operational data handling and optimise business intelligence capabilities.
• Applying a variety of visualisation techniques and designing the content and appearance of data visuals.
• Operationalising and automating activities for efficient and timely production of data visuals.
• Selecting appropriate visualisation approaches from a range of applicable options.
• Contributing to exploration and experimentation in data visualisation.
• Evaluating design options and prototypes to obtain user feedback on requirements of developing systems, products, services or devices.
• Testing the usability and accessibility of components and alternative designs.
• Administering a range of evaluations, recording data and feedback.
• Analysing evaluation data and recommending actions.
• Identifying areas for future user research.
• Checking systems, products, services or devices for adherence to applicable standards, guidelines, style guides, and legislation.
• Evaluating the usability of existing or competitor systems to provide benchmark values and as input to design.
