Senior Technician (Electronics Maintenance)

Onder leiding van de Shift Chief en Chief Technician voer je uiteenlopende technische taken uit op de Satellite Ground Station en bijbehorende communicatiefaciliteiten.

Duties

• Bedienen en onderhouden van de Satellite Ground Station en bijbehorende communicatiefaciliteiten op unit- en veldniveau, inclusief noodinterventies en terrestrische verbindingen (DLOS, Fibre) die uitkomen op de SGS
• Bijhouden van stationslogs en zorgen voor correcte storingsrapportage
• Activeren van circuits conform circuit work orders
• Bedienen en onderhouden van datanetwerken voor reach-back/backhaul-anchoring voor ingezette NAVO-eenheden
• Feedback geven aan de Chief Technician en Station Engineers ter verbetering van het interne trainingsprogramma, en toezien op naleving van voorgeschreven onderhoudsprocedures door onderhoudspersoneel
• Deelnemen aan On-the-Job-Training (OJT)-programma's als aanvulling op het officiële NCI Academy-trainingsprogramma
• Uitvoeren van alle taken die door Station Command worden gevraagd en die verband houden met het dagelijks functioneren van de site en de positie van de site binnen NCIA, NAVO en de lokale gemeenschap
• Uitvoeren van overige taken zoals opgedragen

Eisen

• Essential basic experience of: Antenna sub-system including: radome, feed horn, reflector, pedestal, waveguides, tracking receiver, servo and drive equipment, including fault diagnosis and repair.
• Essential basic experience of: Transmit and receive chains, including: up and down converters, Low Noise Amplifiers and High Power Amplifiers.
• Essential basic experience of: MODEMs, cryptographic equipment, routers and switches.
• Essential basic experience of: Computer-assisted Monitor and Control System (M&CS) for system supervision.
• Essential basic experience of: GPS-disciplined Frequency Reference Standards and associated distribution systems.
• Essential basic experience of: Fibre Optical cables and other tails systems.
• Essential basic experience of: In-depth knowledge of digital techniques.
• Skill, Knowledge & Experience: Testing and maintenance of modern communications systems.
• Skill, Knowledge & Experience: Proven ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and diplomacy, with good briefing skills.
• Vocational training at a higher level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent, or Diploma of Secondary Education, and 5 years of relevant experience.
• At least 5 years' experience in the operation or maintenance of satellite ground terminals/stations, or related systems such as radars or Line-Of-Sight.
• English SLP 2222 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).
• The HQ's host nation language is required.
• Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret.

Wensen

• Desirable TCP/IP fundamentals, video transmission principles and telecommunications quality assurance practices;
• On-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital networks and associated transmission systems, to include; packet switching systems in support of voice and data transfer;
• Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
• Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT.
