Data Scientist | Data Engineer | Utrecht
Would you like to make large international data flows scalable and help detect money laundering and terrorism financing?
You and your role
As a Data Scientist/Data Engineer, you know the secrets of scalable data processing, data transformations and production-ready code. You develop the transaction monitoring data model and connect large volumes of data from different parts of Rabobank.
You combine technical expertise with clear communication. You coordinate with data producers, developers and other stakeholders in an environment of approximately 180 colleagues.
“What makes this role exciting is that you work on detecting money laundering and terrorist financing while handling large volumes of data.”
Summary
As a Data Scientist/Data Engineer at Rabobank, you work on the international data model for transaction monitoring. You use PySpark, Python and Databricks to process large data flows and make them scalable. You write production-ready code and work with data producers from across Rabobank and experts who develop transaction monitoring logic.
You work 36 or 40 hours per week. You work with the team at the office in Utrecht on Mondays and Thursdays. On the other days, you can work from home.
At a glance
- Develop and improve the transaction monitoring data model.
- Work with PySpark, Databricks and Airflow.
- Connect and process large volumes of data in a scalable way.
What will you do as a Data Scientist?
- Develop and maintain the transaction monitoring data model so that global data sources can be used effectively.
- Write and optimise production-ready code to process large data flows at scale.
- Help build a monorepository and onboard new regions to the data model.
- Coordinate with data producers from different parts of Rabobank about data sources and data quality.
- Work with developers who create transaction monitoring logic and need reliable data to do so.
A typical working day might start with a stand-up with your team. You discuss progress and then continue working on your work items. In the afternoon, you plan the next sprint with the team. You may also join a brainstorming session about a new feature before continuing to develop and optimise your code.
During your first year, you will become familiar with the team, its way of working and the data model. The goal is for you to become, together with the squad, the owner of the data model and safeguard its technical soundness.
