Domain Architect

For one of my valued clients, I am currently looking for a Domain Architect (Freelance/Contract Assignment). You can find part of the job description below.

Role Overview
As the Domain Architect, you will help drive the evolution of the organization's data and analytics landscape from a centralized data warehouse towards a distributed functional data mesh. You will be responsible for defining and governing how data products are designed, managed, delivered, and consumed across the business, enabling everything from operational reporting and self-service BI to AI-driven use cases. This is a hands-on architecture role where you will define technical direction, make and document architectural trade-offs, and guide engineering teams through implementation. You will shape target data architecture, domain boundaries, data-product ownership, and data modeling standards while ensuring governance, security, scalability, and usability across the platform.

Requirements

• Proven experience architecting data mesh and domain-oriented data platforms, including data-product ownership and governance models.
• Deep hands-on expertise with data modeling and dbt, including modeling, testing, data contracts, clustering keys, materialized views, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of data modeling approaches including Data Vault 2.0, Kimball/dimensional modeling, normalized structures, and one big-table approaches, including when to combine them.
• Experience designing semantic models and governed self-service analytics solutions in Power BI.
• Experience working with Snowflake-based data platforms.
• Strong understanding of data lineage, observability, and impact-analysis concepts across multiple modeling layers.
• Experience defining identity, access management, security, and governance controls for enterprise data platforms.
• Experience mentoring and aligning Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and BI Developers.
• Bonus: Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Bonus: Experience designing AI/LLM context layers and AI-ready data architectures with governed access to business data.

• Contract Duration: 6 months, with possible extention
