The Opportunity:
For an international technology company, we are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer in Test.
In this role, you will contribute to the quality, security, reliability and performance of complex software products and services.
You will collaborate closely with product owners, software architects and engineers throughout the development lifecycle. From understanding product requirements and system architecture to defining effective test strategies and developing automated tests, you will play an important role in ensuring software quality.
This is a hands-on engineering position where **Java is the primary programming language for test automation**, with Python used where appropriate.
Beyond developing automated tests, you will help improve quality engineering practices, identify risks early and support reliable software delivery.

What You'll Do:
- Collaborate with product owners, architects and engineers to understand requirements, system architecture, expected behaviour and acceptance criteria.

• Develop risk-based test strategies and identify meaningful test scenarios for complex software services and integrations.
• Design, develop and maintain reliable, readable and maintainable automated tests, primarily using Java.
• Test APIs, backend services and distributed systems, contributing to confidence in security, performance, scalability and reliability.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to provide early feedback and support efficient software delivery.
• Improve test environments, test data, reporting and failure diagnostics, and investigate defects to help prevent recurrence.
• Work closely with software engineers to troubleshoot technical challenges and improve solutions.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to continuous improvements in quality engineering practices.

What You'll Bring:

Professional Experience
- Significant professional experience in software quality assurance for production software.

• Hands-on experience designing, developing and maintaining automated tests.
• Experience testing APIs, backend services or distributed systems.
• Experience with performance, load or resilience testing, observability and production troubleshooting.
• Experience working with version control, code reviews and CI/CD within iterative software development teams.

Technical Expertise

• Strong Java programming skills, particularly for test automation.
• Working knowledge of Python, or willingness to use it when needed.
• Solid understanding of test design, debugging and software development practices.
• Ability to select effective testing approaches based on product risks rather than simply increasing test counts.

Collaboration and Communication

• Ability to communicate technical findings, product risks and test results clearly to engineering and product stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach to working with software engineers, architects and product owners.
• Ability to mentor colleagues and contribute to improving engineering practices.

Education

A degree in Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have:
Experience or familiarity with the following technologies and domains would be an advantage:

• Cloud-native systems and technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka or Redis.
• Digital Rights Management (DRM) and common cryptography terminology.
