Omschrijving
Assignment: International Trader, Medical Devices & Consumables
Mediq is looking for an experienced international trader for a 12-month assignment. Your task is to build and run a sales channel for excess and surplus medical devices and consumables from across our European markets. This is a hands-on assignment with a clear commercial goal: identify suitable buyers, negotiate transactions and recover value from stock that our regular sales channels cannot move. You will work with a Group mandate, based within Mediq Netherlands B2B, Export and Trade. You will report to the Head of B2B Netherlands, Export and Trade and work closely with the Head of S&OP Group.
The assignment
Mediq operates across 13 European countries. Changes in demand, tenders and product ranges can leave us with stock that requires a dedicated international route to market. The markets and S&OP identify the available stock; you turn viable positions into transactions.
You will:
- Build an international buyer network among distributors, traders, brokers, NGOs, humanitarian buyers and other relevant channels.
- Assess the Group stock list and prioritise positions with the strongest recovery potential.
- Identify suitable routes for each position, including direct or bundled sales, auctions, supplier returns and donations.
- Personally approach buyers and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, Incoterms and payment security.
- Develop opportunities primarily outside Mediq's existing operating markets to protect our commercial channels.
- Work with Sales, Supply Chain, S&OP, Sourcing, Finance, Quality and Regulatory Affairs to prepare and execute transactions.
- Report monthly on your pipeline, completed deals, revenue, value recovered, lead times and risks.
- Share market insights that may help Mediq prevent recurring excess stock.
You will operate within agreed pricing and approval limits. Every transaction must meet applicable product, export and distribution requirements, including MDR/IVDR, GDP, shelf life, labelling, UDI, sanctions and supplier restrictions. Buyer verification and prevention of channel conflict are essential parts of the assignment.
Your experience
You bring a proven record of personally closing international B2B trading or export deals. You know how to find buyers, assess the realistic value of a stock position and move from opportunity to transaction quickly.
We are particularly interested in:
- At least five years of international trading, export or B2B sales experience.
- Experience with excess stock, secondary markets, liquidation or distressed inventory.
- An existing international buyer network that you can activate.
- Experience with medical devices, consumables or pharmaceutical distribution.
- Working knowledge of the compliance requirements involved in cross-border sales of medical devices.
- Strong negotiation skills and confidence working with item-level data in Excel or BI tools.
- Professional fluency in English. Dutch, German or a Nordic language is an advantage.
Practical details
The assignment runs for 12 months, for 32–40 hours per week. The standplaats is Mediq's office in De Meern, Utrecht.
