KPN's Logfile Management (LFM) team builds and operates the pipelines that move, process and store logs and metrics at scale, running on the KPN Data Services Hub. Our products serve both external customers and internal KPN teams, supporting use cases in security (SIEM), observability and compliance.

These are critical 24/7 services: we run everything we ship ourselves.

We're looking for an engineer who puts operations first. Running the LFM tools is the job: keeping critical services reliable, improving our operations, monitoring and CI/CD, and operating to the standard our certifications require. You can read and write code, but operating comes first.

What you'll do

• Operate our log and metrics pipelines as a service for our customers: reliability, incident response, automation, continuous improvement
• Use the Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) daily for monitoring, troubleshooting and alerting, with Grafana as our single pane of glass
• Improve how we run: operations processes, monitoring, alerting and CI/CD
• Contribute to maintaining and improving our compliance with standards like ISAE 3000 and SOC2
• Own the full lifecycle of what you run: deploy, operate, improve

Must-haves

• Genuine operational mindset: this role is running critical services, not primarily writing code
• Proactive, ownership-driven mindset: this weighs as heavily as technical skills
• Hands-on experience using the Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) or comparable observability tooling
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps ways of working
• Certificate management (TLS/mTLS) for proxies
• Networking fundamentals (DNS, routing, firewalls)
• Team player who actively collaborates and wants to improve the product together
• Fluent, professional-level English; Dutch strongly preferred

Nice to have

• Experience operating workloads on Kubernetes
• Software engineering skills, ideally in Rust or Scala
• Experience with Kafka or other streaming data architectures
• Affinity with the security and observability domain: knowing how log data is used in SIEM and monitoring tooling

Practicals

• 40 hours/week, hybrid
• Every Friday in the Amsterdam office: demos and team borrel
• Once a month in Rotterdam office: department update and lunch
• Openness to a 24/7 shift rotation is required
• Start: as soon as possible; long-term engagement when the fit is right
