ETCA External Communications Manager (Temporary Contractor)

What’s the role

As ETCA External Communications Manager, you’ll lead external communications activities for the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) in the Netherlands, helping strengthen its reputation as a leading hub for open innovation and technology development in the energy transition. You’ll develop and deliver communication strategies, create engaging content, manage digital channels, and build relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You’ll drive communication initiatives that accelerate the energy transition by increasing awareness, generating leads, and fostering the growth of a vibrant ecosystem of start-ups, scale-ups, research institutions, industry partners, and Shell teams.

What you'll be doing

• Execute the external communications strategy and annual communications plan for ETCA focusing on reputation building and lead generation
• Manage ETCA's external reputation and positioning in collaboration with relevant communications stakeholders.
• Increase awareness and reputation by sourcing, creating and publishing compelling content across digital and social media channels, including LinkedIn, YouTube and the ETCA website.
• Maintain and execute a content calendar that supports key business priorities and stakeholder engagement.
• Increase online leads by attracting new members & assignments to our ecosystem by executing and improving online performance strategies for Google & Linkedin Ads in collaboration with agency.

• Manage ETCA PR activities, including coordinating media interviews and trade press releases in close collaboration with Shell Corporate Relations counterparts.

• Build relationships with campus members, Shell technology teams, research partners and other external stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to increase awareness of ETCA and promote innovation and technology achievements.
• Coordinate external communications activities together with your Shell Corporate Relations counterpart, ensuring appropriate review and approval processes are followed.
• Manage incoming communication requests and connect stakeholders with the appropriate subject matter experts.
• Support the development of communication materials for events, conferences and external engagements.
• Monitor communication performance and provide monthly tracking reports to improve reach andleads.

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience developing and delivering external communications, media, public affairs or corporate communications activities.
• Experience creating content for digital and social media channels and managing editorial calendars.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across organisational boundaries.
• Experience translating complex technical or business topics into clear and engaging communications for different audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience working in innovation, technology, energy, sustainability or research environments is a plus.
• Experience supporting communication activities for partnerships, ecosystems or multi-stakeholder organisations is advantageous.
