Role summary

You will shape how platform services are designed, delivered and evolved — from operating systems to backup & recovery and cyber recovery strategies. You work closely with the Area Lead and Tech Lead to translate business goals, regulatory requirements and engineering best practices into a clear, practical architecture. You enjoy deep technical challenges and explaining complex concepts to bring people along.

Key responsibilities

• Architectural leadership: Own and evolve the architecture blueprint for Platform Services; ensure alignment with engineering standards, enterprise architecture and regulatory requirements; guide choices around Linux/Windows platforms, SAN, NAS, object storage, archiving, lifecycle management and standardization.
• Platform resilience & recovery: Shape architectures for backup, restore and disaster recovery; drive cyber resilience strategies including recovery design, isolation and restore confidence; balance security, recoverability, cost and operational simplicity.
• Collaboration & leadership: Co-lead the Platform Services area with the Area Lead and Tech Lead; functionally lead Solution Architects across multiple squads; create clarity and alignment while fostering learning, improvement and shared ownership.
• Stakeholder engagement: Work with stakeholders across regions and disciplines; communicate architectural vision and roadmaps clearly; act as a trusted sparring partner for engineering, security and leadership.

What you bring

• Education: Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Significant experience in complex IT environments and several years in architecture (business, enterprise or platform).
• Operating systems: Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms.
• Storage & data protection: Deep understanding of storage, backup & restore and disaster recovery concepts.
• Security & resilience mindset: Experience with cyber recovery strategies, data protection and platform security.
• Cloud & infrastructure: Solid understanding of on‑prem, cloud and hybrid environments and how applications use both.
• Communication: Able to explain complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Way of working: Curious, technically deep, collaborative and focused on team success.

Eisen

• Language: English and Dutch mandatory
• Education: Master’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• The candidate may be submitted for only one application at a time

  which must be valid both at intake and on the contract start date, and can
  be presented for verification
