Trade Finance Officer (LC specialist)

Position Description
The Trade Finance Officer (LC Specialist) is responsible for supporting the Trade Finance Manager in the execution and control of transactional trade finance activities and related political risk management. The role focuses on ensuring that trade finance transactions are accurately documented, properly checked, and monitored in line with internal standards and applicable rules. The position serves as a key contact point for letters of credit and other financial securities, helping to reduce operational and financial risk within the trade flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Trade Finance Manager in managing transactional trade finance and political risks.
• Ensure complete and accurate documentation of financial transactions.
• Track, signal, assess, and monitor risks associated with trade transactions.
• Review supporting documents, including letters of credit and bank guarantees, for completeness, wording, and acceptability.
• Maintain effective contact with banks and provide internal stakeholders with timely and accurate information.
• Act as the primary point of contact for letters of credit and other financial securities to help reduce risk exposure.
• Contribute to continuity, operational efficiency, and service quality during the absence of the regular colleague.

Required Skills and Experience

• Higher professional education level, preferably an HBO degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Relevant experience in trade finance is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of UCP 600 rules is an advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch (preferred).
