Hosting Infrastructure Engineer Location: Rotterdam (3 days office/2 days home) Contract Type: Temporary Assignment (6-12 months) About the Role For our client, we are looking for an experienced Hosting Infrastructure Engineer to support critical infrastructure operations and ongoing transformation initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving the server, storage, virtualization and backup environment across a complex international infrastructure landscape. You will work closely with executive stakeholders, decision makers, network teams and other internal experts to ensure stable operations, support business continuity, and contribute to strategic infrastructure projects. The assignment requires a hands-on professional with strong technical depth, excellent stakeholder management and the ability to provide both operational support and strategic advice. Your Responsibilities Infrastructure Operations • Implement and maintain infrastructure including servers, clusters and storage platforms. • Deploy and manage Cisco UCS, Cisco Intersight, Cisco Hyperflex, VMware and Veeam environments. • Ensure stable and reliable operation of software and systems within the global infrastructure community. Documentation and Advisory • Create and maintain documentation on deployed systems. • Provide solicited and unsolicited advice within your area of expertise. • Develop improvement proposals and business cases for new tools and projects. Stakeholder Collaboration • Work with executive team members, decision makers and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals. • Identify and resolve business systems issues in collaboration with internal teams. • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems. Improvement and Reporting • Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and propose improvements. • Carry out tasks, plans and RFCs, and create progress reports. • Support strategic infrastructure initiatives and integration projects. Operational Flexibility • Be available to work some evenings or weekends when required. Your Profile • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent proven experience. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. • Experience managing campus, datacentre and remote office infrastructure in large and complex environments. • Strong knowledge of server and storage hardware configurations, performance tuning and troubleshooting. • Significant experience with server virtualization technologies, including VMware. • Proven knowledge of Cisco server technologies, including Cisco UCS and Cisco Intersight. • Experience with Cisco Hyperflex. • Knowledge of backup solutions such as Veeam; Commvault experience is a plus. • Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, Cisco UCS, Certified NetApp Storage or Certified Pure Storage are an advantage. • Strong command of English, both spoken and written.
