Kubernetes–DevOps Engineer
The engineer will work under the direction of the Service Delivery Manager for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). The role focuses on improving how applications are built, deployed and operated, while working closely with development and infrastructure teams.
Main duties
- Container platforms and application onboarding: Administer container orchestration platforms using SUSE Rancher Prime. Work directly with development teams to onboard applications into production environments.
- CI/CD automation: Design, build and maintain pipelines that automate application testing, integration and delivery.
- Hybrid infrastructure: Provision and manage resources across on-premises environments and cloud platforms using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Monitoring and reliability: Establish and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting systems to track platform performance and reliability.
- Security and compliance: Build security practices and compliance controls into deployment pipelines and infrastructure configurations.
- Technical troubleshooting: Investigate complex integration and deployment issues and coordinate solutions across Agile delivery teams.
Experience and skills required
Candidates need at least five years of hands-on experience in DevOps or automated platform management, including:
- Deploying and administering container workloads with Kubernetes, Rancher, RKE2 and Docker.
- Building CI/CD and GitOps workflows, automating pipelines, and using version control with tools such as GitLab, ArgoCD or Jenkins.
- Applying IaC principles with Terraform to provision hybrid infrastructure and Ansible to automate system configuration.
- Managing infrastructure across VMware environments and a major cloud platform such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Writing Bash or Python scripts to automate operational tasks and integrate tools.
- Deploying and using observability tools, including Prometheus, Grafana and ELK.
- Solving technical problems analytically and delivering work with multiple teams in a fast-moving Agile environment.
