C005298, CSAC Engineer

Location: Mons, Belgium
Work arrangement: Full-time on-site, with up to 20% remote work subject to approval
Security clearance: NATO Secret

Key duties

Under the direction of the Service Area Owner, the contractor will:

  • Operate and support the application daily, including administration, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and user assistance.
  • Deploy and maintain updates, patches, installations, configuration changes, and controlled uninstallations.
  • Manage data loading, transfers, validation, migrations, and automation.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Support the technical environment, including RHEL, NGINX, Java, and MS SQL connectivity.
  • Provision and onboard users and provide ongoing guidance and technical support.
  • Maintain operating procedures, configuration records, and technical documentation.
  • Report on KPIs and SLAs, manage risks and issues, and participate in service reviews.
  • Coordinate and gather information across NCSC, NCIA, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish service processes and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and continual improvement.

Essential requirements

  • At least 3 years of practical experience in cybersecurity or a related complex technical environment.
  • Experience with application administration, production support, service initialization, and transition into steady-state operations.
  • Strong hands-on Linux and Enterprise Linux expertise, preferably RHEL 9.x, covering:
    • Servers, services, and processes
    • Networking and storage
    • Permissions and system logs
    • System troubleshooting
  • Experience with:
    • Power BI dashboard and report development
    • Database management, particularly MS SQL or PostgreSQL
    • Data loading, migration, transfer, and automation
    • Application deployment, patching, updates, and release management
    • IT service management, SLAs, incident management, and change management
    • Service improvement and automation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, middleware, operating-system, and database layers.
  • Very good communication, analytical, and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • English proficiency of at least NATO STANAG 6001 Level 3.

Education and certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a related discipline, plus 3 years of relevant post-degree experience; or
  • Without a degree, at least 5 years of extensive and progressively responsible relevant experience.
  • Relevant Linux administration certification required.
  • RHEL 9.x administrator certification is desirable.

Desirable background

  • Experience supporting military or governmental organizations.
  • Experience initializing an application and transitioning it into steady-state service.
  • Experience establishing service processes that are not yet formalized.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and formal change-management processes.

Working conditions

  • Normal office environment in Mons.
  • NCIA equipment will be provided for handling restricted information.
  • Remote work may be permitted for up to 20% of total working time, with prior line-manager approval and no adverse operational impact.
  • Home working must comply with NCIA policy and be coordinated with the SAO.
  • Occasional travel to Brussels or The Hague may be required and reimbursed under NATO regulations.
  • Work-related travel must originate from the designated duty station.
